..........loving the views.....and making memories.............

...........having fun in the sand..........

............. enjoying a few ruins............

.....and managing to do a quick make......

..............being at home now and enjoying............

................making treats with the bears.....

Okay, so guaranteed to rot the teeth, but a one off treat is fine by me. Quick, simple and delicious!

The Bears had a lot of fun filling with buttercream and rolling in sprinkles.

.....................There was a debate over the colour of the buttercream. I would have given in and gone for blue but I only had red.....shame!..........

..........being happy at the cheap bunch of flowers bought at the supermarket. Very cheery, and even the ones that fell off got to be displayed in little bowls. Isn't it lovely how a single flower can make one so happy.................

...........dotting little vases full of happy sunshine in places to make me smile...........

.............my new favourite drink. I cannot get enough of it. Fresh lemon and ginger tea. I have tried the lemon and ginger tea bags from stores, but there is nothing so good as it fresh. I love lemons, so this is a perfect drink for me.................

......stocking up on Tunnock's. We cannot live without them in this house..........

...........squashams too, Baby Bear and I love them!...........

.....and picking up a good read in the magazine dept. How could I not when this was staring at me shouting...........BUY BUY BUY!!!!!!!!

I will go have a cuppa, sit by my flowers, eat a meringue and look through my mag now!

Hope you are all having a fab Tuesday!

Today is a day of............

..............sorting pretties............

............After a day yesterday of doing nothing but washing, wiping and clearing away (and not getting any thanks I might add), I had decided that today was going to be a day where I would just faff about sorting pretties and cheering myself up.

Worked a treat!

Love at First Sight.........

..............I have stared at this online for such a long time. I had the most serious case of the wanties (see this post). But it was exactly that, a want....and not a need, so I set myself the task of selling something on ebay. If I got enough money to buy it then I would, If I didn't then I would let it go.............but I did!!!!! Yipppeeeeeee

I am in measuring cup heaven!

I even had enough money left over from the Ebay sale to put this in the shopping cart with it.

The best little fruit punnet ever!

It's a nice feeling being able to get rid of something you have no love for anymore, and be able to get something you have a lot of love for!

I am still loving the tea towels from this site too (although maybe more as hanging works of art rather than items put to good kitchen use!!!!)..........maybe I need another Ebay session!!!!!

............pottering..........playing about with left over yarn.......seeing what I can come up with........neat little stacks......stripey goodness and toadstools.....

..........not really sure what I am going to do with them, but fun making all the same!

Happy Friday to you all, and I hope that you have a Super Duper weekend!

Summer sorting and a Gentle Nudge..........

...When the sun shines and you start to notice the dust, it's time to start sorting. So, I have been taking things off shelves, dusting and cleaning. I actually feel quite proud of myself! I am a PANTS housewife!

So.........summer sorting......feels good!

...........And the gentle nudge?

Okay, so, I know this subject has been touched upon on other blogs, but just in case you hadn't come across them, I'll just give it a mention too.

Have you ever left a comment on blog post asking a question, and the recipient never bothered to reply? You may have put it down to them being busy, or just plain rude in manners......

....but you may be a NO REPLY BLOGGER

Some of you will instantly know what I am on about, and some of you may not! I am betting many of you are a 'no reply blogger' and you don't even know it.

Bare with me, it might be confusing!

If you leave a comment on a post, it gets published under the post, but the comment also gets sent to the bloggers email. Many people just leave a comment about the post, but many ask questions perhaps that relate to the post content.

If you ARE NOT a 'no reply blogger', the recipient is able to respond to your question as your email address is made available to them in their inbox. If you ARE a 'no reply blogger', it IS NOT made available, and the recipient cannot reply to your question. Often this can be overcome, because, if the person who leaves the comment (asking a question) has a blog of their own, the blogger who wants to respond to their question, can reply by leaving a comment on one of their posts. This way, their question gets answered if they cannot be emailed directly.

Many though, although signed in to blogger, do so purely to be able to leave comments and not actively have their own blog. This is where it becomes difficult. If you ask a question on a post, you don't have a blog AND you are a no reply blogger, there is simply NO WAY of contacting you to answer your questions. Your email address is not given out and you have no blog to post a comment back on.

I know a lot of us bloggers get this. It makes it appear that we just don't care enough to respond to questions, but in fact, it's simply because we cannot contact you back!

I often reply back in the comments box, hoping that the person might just re-read the comments section. Sometimes they do, but i'm sure many don't.

And you know, this also affects you if you participate in a giveaway. If you are a 'no reply blogger', and do not have an active blog, you will often just have a first name when you leave a comment on a post. The problem comes when several people with the same first name, leave a comment on a giveaway saying 'yes please enter me!' and they are all 'no reply bloggers'!!!!!!!!! If you were to be picked out, there would be no way of knowing exactly which one of you it was who won, and you wouldn't be contactable!

Am I making any sense?

So, it's simple to change it around and make yourself contactable. Just put your email address in your profile part and you will stop being a 'no reply blogger'!!!! Alternatively, if this doesn't appeal, just make sure, that when you ask a question, email the blogger directly (through their profile) instead of asking a question on a post and that way they will be able to reply to you.

So, whilst I am on the subject.....

Helen (who was sent over from Lucy at Attic24) with a crochet question........can you please email me again directly through my profile page and I will be able to reply to you. You are a no reply blogger and there is no way for me to reply to you. So please don't think I am rude and cannot be bothered, it's that I can't!!!!!!

Okay, so have I completely confused you all?!!!!! Yes probably. In my very inarticulated way, I bet you are all scratching your heads wondering what on earth I have been waffling about......okay so.....if I have  just confused you, read here which may explain things a bit better!

A gentle nudge to get all you no reply bloggers to be reply-able!!!!!!

Have a super day all!

Hello................

............My name is Vanessa............

................and I am a...............

ADDICT

Seriously, that site is completely addictive..........like one HUMUNGOUS magazine, full of beautiful pictures and things to make you go 'WOW'.

The great thing about Pinterest is that the pictures always link back to the original source. There are many great crafty pics which link back to tutorials on websites and blogs. It is a great way to discover new, lovely sites you may have otherwise never come across, and be able to create something lovely.

One of my latest crafty delights came about from this in a roundabout way.

In crochet terms, I have been wanting to do something using a diagonal for some time. In my blanket craze, I wanted to break away from horizontal stripes and granny squares. I just hadn't come across a pattern. It was one of those ideas that you have but just gets put on the back burner.

It was a little jaunt on pinterest that re-lit the fire as it were, and took me on a linked journey......

A little pic that caught my eye led me here

Although, the tutorial was in french it was easy to follow. Oooooohhhhhhh, now wouldn't that be fab I thought! I imagined one made in my head, with a lovely little border. One to snuggle under, in all its vintage looking goodness. Ooooooohhhhhh yes, I was liking this idea, very, very much. The only trouble was, I think I was a bit 'blanketed out'. I have managed to pull two blankets out of the bag these past few months, I still have yet to finish my evening sun blanket (which started life being just a cushion) and I wasn't sure whether it was a bit of an ask making another one so soon. So, I thought about it, and wondered if I could do something on a smaller scale. Something that would keep me occupied and put a smile on my face at a time when there wasn't a lot to smile about.

I was sure I had seen something similar once quite a while ago on Vanessa's Gorgeous, Gorgeous Blog Do You Mind If I Knit

Now, I'm sure most of you know her blog well. Colour and Stripes feature heavily, so of course I am a fan and she is so incredibly, incredibly talented in so many fields.

A bit of archive searching found this post, and I thought, okay, maybe something like this might be a better option than another blanket. I could adapt the pattern from the tutorial on the french site into something smaller like a scarf. I get to do a diagonal AND whip up something that was quicker than a blanket AND that would still give some satisfaction.  Further searching led me to this, and then this and then this !!!!!!!!

Please do check out these links. Hen and LaaLaa are two extremely talented ladies. Hen was the lovely recipient of one of Vanessa's scarves (which Hen blogged about), and Hen herself makes THE MOST GORGEOUS patchwork delights. Seriously Lovely is an understatement!!!!! LaaLaa was one of the first sites I came across when I first started blogging. She has an incredibly enviable stitching and crochet talent and she just happens to be INCREDIBLY LOVELY too!!!!!

So, inspired by all the links, this is the result....................

Yeap, before you ask, that's me......helloooooooooo! It was a real struggle to stick these in. I like taking pictures, just HATE being in any with a passion! It was hard to show the scarf in all its glory just folded though. I tried it on 'Mallory', my mannequin but, as hard as she tried, even she was struggling (something about body issues that day!), so I had to model. I couldn't chop my head completely off without losing some of the scarf, so there we go. Probably to be deleted in a few days, when I can't bear the thought of them here any longer!

This was the first one. A sort of tester one. I started it using up the oddments of Rico Cotton I had left. There wasn't much of a colour choice and I'm not convinced about the colours put together. Ivory would have been nice and hot pink rather than sludgy red. I wasn't even sure if I had enough of the yarn to complete it as they were just oddments, but I did, and when I stood back, it wasn't horrendous. Not 'wow' but 'okay'. Okay enough to use. It was really just a tester to see if I could do it. However,  once I was confident I knew what I was doing, I was eager to do one in more muted colours. I have had some colours in my head for a while for an Autumn blanket, so I thought I would try them out on the scarf (Renee, these are the ones!!!!).

So this was my second attempt...........

This one was the one! The colours were more 'me'. I used ordinary acrylic mix yarn for this one, just what I had in my basket. For the first one I made the ends straight, on the second they were left diagonal, so ever so slightly different.

I like the first one, but I love the second. I am sure they will both get plenty of use on the school run when the cooler weather comes. They go with several coats so I am happy. I think I will maybe do another one in more luxurious yarn, so I will have a shop around for yummy yarn and beautiful colours. People who know me, would vouch for the fact that I am a HUGE scarf girl come Autumn/ Winter. I WILL do a blanket at some point though. I love the idea of a big square full of diagonal stripes. A palette of rich shades or one with just blue and white or red and white stripes! Oooooh the possibilities are endless!!!!! It is on the list, and I can feel the fire burning bright for this project, but for the moment, the scarves have quenched the thirst and I am satisfied for the time being!!!!!!!

Have a super Friday and the most fantastic weekend!
