Effort.........

Do you ever get out of bed in the mornings and it's a REAL effort? Yes.....of you course you've had that. But, then find, the whole day is an effort? Well, i'm sure you have had that too at times.

I have just had a couple of weeks that have been an EFFORT.

I caught the tail end of the Bears colds. Once over the shivvers and the streaming nose, I had the most tremendous sinus cold. It affected my balance a bit in my ears so for the past couple of weeks I have been feeling oddly dizzy with that sort of car sickness feeling........continuously.

Never good.

So......I have just wanted to take it easy. It's been hard to focus on anything without feeling sickly, so craft stuff, computer lounging have all been minimal. My enthusiasm for blogging was non existant for a while. Just managing to do the basics around the house was enough.

Sorry about that folks.

On the mend. Still feel a bit 'odd' but not as bad as I was.

Hopefully normal service will resume.

So, there we are.

That's it in a nutshell

Snuggles, blankets, fire, soup, fruit, dark rooms, and quiet have all been on my list of favourite 'to do' things these past couple of weeks.

Back soon.........

  1. Sounds like you've had a rotten couple of weeks, I hope you are feeling better soon. I have to say that I know what you mean about everything being an effort, I think we all suffer from it, me particularly at this time of year even without being poorly and I've only got two kids....hibernation is the key : ), or military planning (no help when you're poorly ).
I love your hyacinths and their little crocheted pots lovely.

  2. Thank goodness for that! I was beginning to think you were super woman. Now I know you are normal I can stay friends with you! ;o)

So sorry you are feeling crappish. Have to say I have been feeling a bit 'efforty' myself lately. Fortunately I haven't been fighting the illnesses but I have a pile of ironing too scary to look at, 125 emails in my inbox, a heap of blog posts I have read and enjoyed but not yet commented on. All I want to do is play with yarn and bunker down. I spend the days longing for that moment after supper when I can flop in front of the fire and play with wooly things.

I hope you feel well again soon, just look after yourself. Everything else can wait.

ps. I wonder how many people will be rushing out to make a hyacynth plastic pot cosy now they've seen yours!!

  4. Oooh, I have been feeling like that pretty much since the beginning of december. Not a great feeling isn't it! Anyway... your cures sound pretty much like mine, so I guess we're both on the mend. Good to see you back in blogland.

I had a cold last week, thought it had gone by the weekend and now the dratted thing is back ~ even worse than before :-( So yes, I totally understand about how hard it is to make the effort to do things ~ all I want to do is sleep LOL

Glad you're feeling a little better and you're back lifting our spirits with your gorgeous piccies.....I had a blue hyacinth, but sadly it's way past it's best now....and I forgot to take a pic while it was in it's loveliness.....thanks for sharing yours.....I'm loving the pinkness.....regrettably Tesco didn't have any pink when I got mine.....so I'll just keep popping in to look at yours if you don't mind. Stay warm and cosy.....they say more snow is on it's way -xx-

  20. Lovely Vanessa, yes of course I understand. I too have caught the children's cold and am finding looking after a toddler and our new puppy (yes, yes, yes he is adorable!) a little bit of an effort. It is very wise indeed to take things easier in these moments when you can. Beautiful pink hyacinths. My favourite colour.

Take care of yourself and stay warm. Here in France we are at -10°C!

  28. Yes although I wasn't sick I just felt trapped in my snuggly robe and didn't want to take it off....with almost a month of that way below zero weather.....all I did was bake and feel depressed! Its amazing what a burst of warm weather can do for ones mood and mental health......I'm glad your feeling better too!

  29. This weather doesn't help either does it? Makes me want to hibernate until the Spring!
Hope you feel your old cheery self again very soon. :0)

  30. I have rheumatoid arthritis so my days are so often like this ~ slow and easy. I will pray you stay on the upswing. Give yourself permission to take as much time as you need. Take good care of yourself. Spring will be here soon and Summer days once again and we will put all these sniffles behind us! Hang in there and rest up!

  32. Yes i do - When physically run down, or when emtionally running on empty.
I'm now learning the balance of slowing down when I can.

    Rest & recharge lovely lady.

  37. I have just read all these lovely comments and agree; take your time, rest up, let nature take it's course, don't rush getting better. You will get there! xx

  38. I think you have the perfect prescription for recovery - "Snuggles, blankets, fire, soup, fruit" and, once you are feeling a little better, throw in some crafting to ease you back into fitness. Take care of yourself, don't rush it.

  40. What a perfect post to read today. First of all I am so sorry you've been so unwell hon, but you are right just to slow down a bit and take care of yourself. I just found out a friend's cancer is back, another friend died suddenly last week and it is definately one of those times when its an effort to do anything - your post reminded me that sometimes its okay to slow down a bit. As always - a delight to read! Becks x
