......Was an extremely lazy one.
It started in the most perfect way.....
A lounge in bed whilst the sun shone and the birds chirped. A cuppa in one hand, a hook in the other and my favourite weekend morning tracks played. A bit of quiet time, then a bounce on the bed, pillow fight and snuggle time with all the Bears. P-E-R-F-E-C-T
After finally getting up, I went from the bedroom, to the garden.....and pretty much stayed there all weekend.
After having, what seems like months, of wind and rain, to pass up the opportunity of garden lounging in fine weather would have been criminal!
I worked on a bit of this and a bit of that.....
I got to enjoy the Evening Sun blanket in the evening sun. It was delicious to wrap in it and read stories with Baby Bear. It was everything I had dreamed about when making the blanket......and more......
❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀
....and on Sunday........I made a girl den for myself.
Having boys, I have made a lot of boy dens in my time.
On Sunday, I fancied a little girly retreat where I could read my books, and just get away from it all. Now, having a 2ft by 2ft garden, means it's pretty hard to escape.....but, the elder Bears were doing their own thing (building ant and worm farms with their friends), and Baby Bear came and went as the fancy took him. Grand Prix meant Mr H was occupied, so it was pretty much me to myself.
During the day cordial was sipped, fruit was eaten, books were read and bubbles were blown......and as the evening drew in, lanterns were switched on and wine was opened. It really was a lovely little escape. Who needs luxury holidays when a blanket and a few cheap lanterns can do it for you!!!!!
So, a lovely restful weekend was had. I have a ton of cleaning to do today though, so no rest for the wicked!
I hope you all had a good weekend. I would love to hear what you got up to. Restful of jam packed?
Thank you for all your messages on my last post. A lot of you agreed about the trainer issues! It's great to hear so many of you walk a lot. It was uplifting to hear actually. Sometimes when you think you are the only one doing it, you sort of feel like why should you bother. I know it must be doing me good, and hopefully I will start to feel it soon! Annie, you made a good point, I shall look into it! It was also nice to hear that a lot of you felt like I do about magazines. It just seems to have got to a point where the real content is only 10 pages when the whole magazine is 100. And, I think it's clear that we ALL dream of a simpler life. Blogging, for myself and i'm sure for many, has made me appreciate all the little things in life. The little things that often get so easily missed, but that can have a wonderful effect on the mind and soul. So I am thankful for blogging, and all you guys that make it just so much fun. You are all so truly awesome.
Okay, enough gushing, I have beds to strip, wash loads to put on and I REALLY need to find out where I put my hoover.........................

Lovely, lovely post! I love your PJs. I wrote a long comment on your last post but Blogger is still not liking me and it hasn't published. We only have one car now and I have been walking evrywhere for a few years now. I get shin splints too and that, and the fibromyalgia, make it quite an achey acticity but I still do it every day. I love it. Have a good week lovely. Let's see if this comment gets published. GGRR! xxxx

Love your colour choices in your crochet and everything else too! I, too, walk or cycle everywhere. I passed my driving test too many years ago to mention, but really don't enjoy driving at all, so I walk or cycle. I live in a village, which does have its restrictions on the shopping front etc, but we do have a reasonable bus service.
ReplyDeleteAs my bike is my main form of transport I have decided to jazz it up a bit, so I'm going to work on bunting (not literally!!) this afternoon and maybe decorate my panniers too!
Your weekend sound amazing!
ReplyDeleteThe weather was pretty great, wasn't it? Sunday afternoon we had a picnic in the park a few blocks down from where we stay. I love that park, it makes me feel so far away from London, and the noise the city comes with...
Have an amazing week, filled with sunshine :)
Lovely post about a lovely weekend!! Hope your week is filled with lots of sunshine and not too much "hoovering". xoxo Debbie
ReplyDeleteIt's looks bliss, I must get myself a girly den. Beautiful photos as always.
ReplyDeleteIt does sound like a little bit of heaven, love your lanterns!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt sure does sound like a great weekend...we had a similar one. No hussle, just enjoyed the beautiful weather.
ReplyDeleteYou did have the perfect weekend. I so enJOYed reading about it. Hubsters & I are clearing everything out of our bedroom to do a total makeover. Feels so good to get rid of the stuff we do not wear or use. It is a three day holiday here (Memorial Day) and working hard to get lots done. NOT a fun weekend. Not a tiny bit. So I have really loved reading about yours! Now....back to work.
ReplyDeleteYour weekend sounds wonderful Vanessa! Happy to hear you are having sun too and enjoy it so much. Your plaids look just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHappy new week,
Madelief x
What a wonderful attitude to life you have Vanessa :-) I love your girly den (and PJ's!). I live in a house with 3 males also and sometimes just long for something girly and sweet - so why not have it ah? My boys love chocolate cake...anything that resembles mud really...but today I am going to bake a light, fluffy, white angel cake and cover it with a sweet bink berry glaze. And I bet you the eat it all up! Have a great week hon. Becks xxx

That so sounds like my kind of weekend Vanessa though it would take an amazing amount of good luck on my part to achieve it any time soon I fear.

Sounds like you have a wonderful weekend!! LOve all your gorgeous crocheted creations!! Do you have a favorite way to crochet all the squares together when making a blanket? I am working on my first granny square blanket, so I love to hear what everyone does!! Thanks!! Have a lovely week! xo Heather

Just caught up with your 2 last posts - it's been a busy time here! I SO agree about the mags - I signed up for Mollie Makes but it had 11 pages of photos in a cafe in Feb + loads of adverts - waste of money, I decided and finished my sub. I still like C-Living, but it's a bit thin on content, compared with when it started. I'm waiting for a book - I ordered it so long ago, I can't remember what it is! Hopefully will be a lovely surprise - crochet or patchwork most probably! I'm just finishing a ripple cushion to go with the ripple blanket I made - we took it off in our campervan last weekend for the first time (for Ripple + camping)! We had great fun! My 2 bears are all grown up now - we used to call the big one 'Bearcub'! He's moving out next week when the younger bear returns from uni! Our eldest, our 'Sunflower' girl, pops home quite often and it's lovely to have someone to share girly stuff with. Enjoy your trainers - you need to look after your feet!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely photos you have. Do you use a special camera and filter?
ReplyDeleteHappy for you that you had such a special and terrific weekend.
I read your blog for a long time now, and I so love it, never commented. Now I do. Sounds you had a really good, simple weekend. So important, those quiet weekends. And keep everything very clean is overrated, I think.

ReplyDeleteWhat a nice lazy weekend for you..I'm jealous..~~Debb
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect sounding weekend hon! Look at all your beautiful pics! It's Queen's Birthday weekend here (is it the same in the UK?) so we get a nice long weekend. I'm really looking forward to doing not much of anything. If I can ignore the weeds in the garden, and a bit of dust here and there I'll be a very happy, and lazy, girl!!!
