Dilemma...........

This was started with the intention of being a cushion cover.  One side completed.

Something simple..................something small I thought.........I like it though.......and think will look nicer as a blanket..............oooooohhhhhhh nooooooooo.............not another blanket..........

So, I have stopped for a bit to have a little think............it looks like it should be a little vintage blanket for Baby Bears bed. Just a small one. It's snuggly and deserves a pretty little border........oh why do I do this?

  1. Do it, do it, do it! You can never have enough blankets......well, you can ......but that is what I tell myself......a blanket is sooooo much better than a cushion.....come on you know you want to.......take it from me, also a mum of three boys who has a thing for blankets......actually now I come to think of it, maybe I am not the right person to ask! 5. I so love your blog and would like to tell you more often. Unfortunately google just ate my comment plus I stopped using my google account (my only online ID) as every time I left a comment I couldn't see blogger comments on any blog for at least a day. I know people who use blogger for their blogs have been having problems with them - well so have us commenters!

I wanted to tell you how much I really loved your last blanket - it was just wonderful, the colours are so vibrant and lovely. I was reminded of a Japanese kimono. Now should you make a cushion with these squares? Well yes. Should you make a blanket? Absolutely you should. These colours are amazing together and I love the pattern - is it your own design? I'm hoping it is not posh yarn that I can't afford because I am strongly tempted. Blankets are always good. I want you to make it for selfish reasons - so that I get to see it! It's very inspiring to see all your gorgeous things and I think this is different again from your others. I think it will be a very lush and cuddle-some blanket. I definitely vote for a blanket. A cushion might keep it company too (yes I am saying make both!).

Thank you for your gorgeus blog; I always visit and am stopped commenting only by the horrible blogger. I think that this time might be ok as I was taken through a slighly different process than before. Fingers crossed!

  18. Whatever you do with it will be wonderful!

I'm so with you on the housework front. I spent all day Saturday dusting and organizing and barely made a dent. Haven't done anything since. I keep things tidy and am glad when night time is here and I can light candles and pretend everything is clean and perfect. :/

    Have a terrific Tuesday. Tammy

  19. Hi there

I am so happy to see some crocheting. I brought the exact japanese crochet book with an absolutely desire to make the blanket on the front cover...Japanese ? and my first crocheting project? Very well done to you. I think I should give it a go too now. I love the sight of crocheted pieces in a home. Your covers do look lovely and i too would be tempted to turn it into a blanket...

    A happy day to you

  24. I love the colors. I have the problem of "thinking in blankets" too! LOL. Everything looks awesome as a blanket to me. Every time I start a project, I always think of how cute a little one would look snuggled up into it.....so I guess you know where my vote is -- BLANKET WITH A CUTE BORDER :) Happy crocheting!

  25. I love the colours you're using in this. It looks like if you stop now it'll be a very big cushion! Xx

P.s. Was thinking the other day that if you were ever needing a new career you should be a stylist!

  26. lol you are a blanket addict, do you think there is a treatment for that? If your older blankets need a refuge home as you create more and more then my home would make a great refuge centre for them :-) xxx

  28. You've such a great eye for colour Vanessa. Adore the soft colours in this will it won't it be blankie. Absolutely love your canal boat blanket too -reminds me of gypsy caravans too and all those gorgeous colours ooohhh. Must go off and get tempted by a wee bit of book shopping and then take the plunge to actually start and finish a blanket.

  31. Love it!! It needs to be a blanket, a blanket of vintagey goodness!! Can I ask a few questions? What wool are you using? & how do you join your squares? Cant wait to see the finished blanket/cushion.x

  32. Oh I just love your bracelets. Totally lusting over them. Love a bit of jingle jangle, I do.

Gorgeous outfit, you look so summery. I have been sweltering in a meeting room full of 25 people with broken aircon all day. I needed a photo like this to remind me of cool summer days.

(I think you should make it into a massive floor cushion cover by the way. It just screams 'retro picnic' to me, luvvey.)

  33. I am going against the masses and saying CUSHION! Only because its not really "Blanket Weather" so you'll need a cushion much more. Also, the sooner you finish this project, the sooner you can start a new one, and I know you are just bursting with ideas for things to make.
    :)
I am confident I have swayed your choice ;)

  34. Oh dear looking at all the other comments there are so many ideas! I think a gorgeous monster has been created!

Have to say though those colours are amazing! love the brown which is not something I say very often! lol.

Although I do like the handbag suggestion. What fun you could have there! With colourful loopy handles and a vintage style flower attached!......

Then again a blanket might be fun. Hope you decide because i dont think I could! Too many choices! lol

Just love it Vannessa in any colourful configuration you decide!
