When summer is nearing it's end, I am most definitely ready to don my Autumnal gear. I look forward to the change in the season. I look forward to the morning 'nip' in the air on the school walks. I look forward to the boot wearing, the scarf wearing, the layer wearing. I look forward to the smell of the dew filled mornings, and the damp woody bonfire days. Morning frosts thrill me, and cracking iced over puddles still never gets dull. I look forward to it all.
But at this moment in time, I am done with it all. Enough is enough now. I'm bored.....i'm cold.....i'm always getting soaked.....i'm fed up with looking like a Michelin man/bag lady. I'm grumpy, i'm sludgy, i'm lacklustre, and I need some oooomph.
I want sun and a little heat
I want shoots to burst through the ground
I want to open my windows and doors to the day
I want to have my morning coffee sitting outside my back step before the rest of the house has woken
I want to feel warmth on my skin
I want to sip chilled drinks and love cold salads
I want to sit on a rug and enjoy a relaxing picnic
I want to smell freshly cut grass and enjoy blooming roses
I want it all........I am totally ready for it
I want to read outdoors on a blanket
I want Light filled days
I want colour
I want late evening walks
I want to spend hours outside
I want to feel uplifted
Go away grey and come bathe me in golden light
(ahhhhhhh this was needed today. If I cannot get the sun and the heat I am craving at the moment, then past photos of it will do the job for now)

That was lovely! I know exactly how you feel. I am originally from Atlanta in the US, and I find these long, long UK winters very hard to take. Maybe I better get outside and get whatever light I can today, but I loved your pics, particularly the one with the picnic and berries. Ooooohhh, berries................
ReplyDeleteOhhh so do I! I want it all ... thanks for bringing a lot of sunshine into a Blue Monday! Won't be long now, hopefully ...
ReplyDeleteLove Claire xxx
I'll be honest I want all those things too but I want some snow first ... I know, I know I'm nuts
ReplyDeleteThank you for your post! For the wonderful photos!
ReplyDeletetogether ... we wait heat and sun)))
I'm in total agreement with you. We saw the sun yesterday and sat outside for nearly an hour just breathing in the fresh air, talking, and enjoying the fact the sky wasn't grey. Today, back to routine, and a sick husband, who is poorly in bed. Wishing the sun would come out in my life too!
ReplyDeleteWow - that was gorgeous! I know how you feel but with our long Canadian winters I'm not likely to experience any of that anytime soon! Thanks for the lovely post:)
ReplyDeleteJenn @JennsCraftyWorld
Beautiful post! (We are in the middle of a heatwave in Johannesburg, SA - I would gladly swap you some sunshine for a bit of rain!) Would be wonderful if we could do a weather swap like we do a square swap!

We are ill and I am with you. It has been so grey here. Not even a sunny cold wintery day. It gets so hot in the summer here. I wish you could hop on a bus and visit and pick fruit in our garden, just for a day. You'd love it.
ReplyDeleteYour house looks so beautiful though. I hope your pretty things, fairy lights and treats put a little light in your heart. I seem to be hiding under quilts a lot watching history documentaries!
Sending smiles. XXX
Such lovely photos to lift the spirits and I especially love the birdie clothespegs! I hope it's not too long before you get all your 'wants'. Have a good week.

I hear you. It's summer and SO hot here (Australia) right now. I want what you want too. But I need to heat to subside by about 15 degrees to enjoy it! Jane x
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures, now I'm longing for warmth and sunshine and flowers too. And you've reminded me how much I love that stunning crochet blanket. It really is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour photography is stunning - you have a great eye for a beautiful photo and great styling skills.
ReplyDeleteMaria x
Could. Not. Agree. More. So over this. Ugh. I just layzed about all day feeling blah. Can't wait for spring!!!
ReplyDeleteAmen to all of the above. Stunning photos to tide us over
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how you feel. But spring is very short where I live and it feels like it's over in a flash. I hope it lasts longer this year.
ReplyDeleteGive me the light!!!! I haven't been blogging in weeks because of lack of energy. Every time I turn on my computer my last post, 10 days ago, laughs me in the face as a reminder and I feel guilty. But I just don't have it in me when it is grey grey grey, cold, cold cold and rainy, rainy, rainy... I am so with you. Give me the light back. The sun. The warm breeze. Wiggling my toes on my stone path. Hanging laundry outside. I am so done with this so called winter...

PS Beautiful shots as always. Is that your living room, the shot of the couch, crochet pillow and laced cupboard in the background? Looks lovely! What a dream. :D
Oh - thank you! I needed that too!! It's so foggy here in Hampshire this morning, I practically needed fog lights to see my way to Flora Puddleduck's house, when I opened her hutch for her. I'm totally sick of all this rain. Having said all that - did you catch last night's sunset? We were driving home from Salisbury as the sun was setting - a huge glowing orb in the west - and the clouds caught the last of the rays turning the whole world pink. It was remarkable. Spring won't be long, my bulbs are already well up for the change in season!
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures, as Always!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same Vanessa. By the time Autumn approaches I can't wait to wear cozy warm clothes but then I get very fed up of winter especially in January and February and long for spring with its lovely longer days and warmer temperatures. This year I feel the winter has been milder than the last one, though and thus I fear we will have a horrible February.... oh no!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the flowers outside as well as inside.... that lavender field in your photo is gorgeous, can you imagine how lovely it must smell over there??? It must be intoxicating....
Have a lovely day, Pati x
Me too Me too!
ReplyDeletehow lovely are those colours?
and the light...oh the light... I forget how good the light and sun can make us feel...
bestest daisy j x

ReplyDeleteWhat a glorious post of colourfulness! Thanks for sharing all these lovely bright and cheerful photos to remind us of what is, hopefully, to come!
Roll on Spring!

Me thinks you need a holiday in the sun ;-) Winter will be over soon, so try to enjoy the crisp blue mornings (when we get them) and snuggling under blankets :-)
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous pics .... I am intoxicated by colours in profusion, aren't you? Here in Randburg in South Africa we are having cooler weather and lovely rain and thunderstorms after a spell of extremely hot and unpleasant weather (for me anyway!)
ReplyDeletePat x (sunshineandasewingbasket@blogspot.com) ..... we have such a lot a sunshine here, very lucky!
