Drinking Delights.....

A Somewhat 'weird' post....but it occurred to me the other day, just how big a part 'drinking' plays in my life. No, I don't mean of the alcoholic kind. Whilst I do like a tipple every now and then, it's not a big part of my life. No, i'm meaning a good hot beverage. I like cups, perhaps I even have a little cup obsession (to add to all the other obsessions), but......and I know that many of you agree.....you have to have different cups for different drinks at different times of the day. It's an essential in my house. And boy, do I get through a lot of cups...which justifies why I need so many (let's forget the argument there, that I could just use one and wash it out everytime).

Tea.....coffee.....hot water with lemon......whatever it is.....I LOVE drinking it. I can safely say, I think i'm up with my daily hydration.

My start to the day.....

....always has to be tea. Then another cup before the school run.

Mid morning coffee....usually a piping hot latte...

...and if i'm feeling a case of the munchies, whatever falls out of the cupboard and into my hand. Today it was a panettone. It HAD to be eaten, well, that's what the sell by date told me, so who am I to complain at that?

I drink tea by the gallon if I am home throughout the afternoon. Always decaf these days.

My worst chore (well....one of them) is the laundry and I do anything to avoid it, which is quite hard with the three bears being laundry ratbags. Hot water and lemon. It's refreshing and perfect for late morning.

Washing on, hoovering done, cushions plumped, a sandwich eaten and the kettle is on. As I pour water into my ginger concoction, Mr Postie pops this through my box, perfect timing. Perfect prettiness to round off the mundane and tedious jobs...

A bit of DIY before the school run.....builder tea called for...

Late afternoon....... after the bears have got in from school, dumped all their kit and eaten a fridge full of food. It's my time for 10 minutes. Ahhhhhh. A particularly good month for 'Delicious' Magazine too I might add. A lot I want to make. That page had me drooling. Even Baby Bear said he'd quite like a Mad Hatters cake like that. Rock on.

early evening....Supper out of the way and it's a sit down and gather inspiration time.

mid evening....relax

....and bed time

  1. And I thought it was only me that had different cups used at certain times of the day! Roses for my first cuppa, and cats for my last. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who drinks her tea nice and strong too.
Hope you have a great weekend.

  4. I love that you have all of your different cups for different things. I don't worry about that so much, but I do need a BIG cup, no tiny little teacups for me, I want something that I can wrap my hands around and hug onto!! You certainly have a very pretty collection of mugs and cups - some of which, scrap that, all of which I covet!! xx

  5. Oh yes Vanessa ! Its definitely all about the cup, my husband thinks I'm quite loopy but it is SO important to have the right size/type of cup at certain times of the day. Nothing too complicated drinks wise - just Clipper tea all the way for me but the cup is soooo veeerrryyyy important :-)
Have a lovely Saturday with lots of hot drinks to hand x

  11. I have so many mugs, but none of them are as beautiful and adorable as the ones you have. SO cute! I feel the urge to go out and find pretty mugs. I am sure everything tastes better in precious mugs :-)

  12. Adorable! I love the second one - and the vase behind it with a cartoon girl?

  13. What beautiful photos you take. I need to copy your example, I'm dreadful at remembering to drink. I have one cup of cold redbush tea which sits around all morning waiting to be drunk, the a few hasty sips of water as I race about the place. I do it all wrong! Perhaps I need better mugs and cups...

  14. Suddenly I feel a need to add more hot drinks to my day. I thought I was having a lot with my 3 cups a day... I'm inspired to not even think twice next time I see a pretty cup or mug to add to my cupboard. Of course we all need more than half a dozen cups of hot drinks in a day. That should be a rule and not an exception in my opinion. Lets go mug shopping!

PS Your first cup of tea mug is by far my favorite and my best.

  16. I love that you have a collection of mugs. I do too, although not as lovely as yours. My husband thinks I am a bit nutty (I am. Just not about mugs) for having so many different ones. When you buy a new cup or mug do you buy a set of 4 or 2 or do you just buy one?
The first cup, and the third with the little spoon are my favorite.
You should do another post telling us all about where you got these lovely drinking vessels. I know I am interested, and I bet other readers would be too.

  18. I too would love to know where you bought your mugs, they are so pretty - I love the one with the floral spoon. I have my tea in the morning in a cup and saucer, afternoon is coffee time but not in a lovely mug ufortunately (In fact I am going to get myself a gorgeous mug this week - you have inspired me) and when little man has gone to bed it is a relaxing cup of tea or milky coffee in a mug.

  19. I love my tea, and the first cup in the morning is always the best one ... and I have two or three favourite pretty china mugs .... makes all the difference. Also enjoy a cup of warm water with lemon, ginger .. just wish I could develop a taste for the wonderful of selection of herb teas, they smell so fragrant and delicious and are healthy too .... but I would rather pass on them! :)

  20. Tea is my favorite drink. Drink it all hours of the day:)
I do have some different cups I change between depending on my mood. Though not so much during the day. More day to day.
I usually change between to larger mugs, though they are actually not my favorites. It is only so I can get more tea at a time:)

  21. I have my favourite mugs too...my first mug of the day is always in my large CK mug full to brimming with tea....my day can not start or end with out tea! Sarah xo

  22. Oh I really enjoyed this post. I am just the same, my day is punctuated by hot drinks; tea first thing, coffee mid morning, tea all through the afternoon and herbal in the evening, The post-school run cuppa at 4pm is the best, and i am MOST particular about my mugs too! (I'm also quite partial to a glass of wine or two when the kids have gone to bed...) xx

  26. I too have different cups for different parts of the day and woe betide anyone who uses one of my cups for coffee. I've even realised I am a bit possessive and don't actually like anyone else drinking from my cup.....and yet I'm always saying the family mantra "It's nice to share" (but that usually only applies if someone else has chocolate!) Philippa xx

  27. I so agree with having a great mix of different cups! I love mix and match crockery, it's fun to get up in the morning and have a choice. For me a pretty flowery cup can really brighten a dull day. And just like my choice of playlists on the Ipod is influenced by my mood of the day so is my choice of cup designs. Have a beautiful Sunday filled with plenty of pretty cups!

  28. I love your china, and your beautiful photos! I do like a nice cuppa, but I couldn't drink that much or I'd never be off the loo, hehe. Do you happen to remember waht the cups in your first and last piccies are?? Jen

    1. Hi Jen, The first cup is from Marks and Spencers. I'm not sure if they still do that range though as it was a few years ago I bought it. The last one I have had for years also, and I cannot for the life of me remember where I got it. I thnk it must have been just a little homeware shop along in my travels. Sorry! : )

  29. Oh my goodness you have so much time to yourself! My children are small, and I just cannot remember what that was like! Please take a moment to remember, it'll make those cups even more delicious. Personally, I think you have too have a cup for tea that is so thin you can see through it a little bit, and the mouth is nice an narrow. Otherwise the tea cools too quickly. Also I only drink leaf tea and fresh coffee. Enjoy!

Such a simple daily pleasure...I think when you can find these little bits of happiness thoughout the day, it really does wonders for your soul. Great post! :)
