I love colour. But I guess if you've read my blog for any length of time, you'll know that!
I LOVE looking at photos and images (I put my hands up to being a Pinterest addict)....and I love taking photos. However, I've realised that when I look at an image firstly, I actually don't look at its content. I sort of look at it through blurry eyes. It's actually colour and texture that grab me more that the actual content of an image. My love of colour, and colour together is my main focus. If you blur your eyes to an image, the colours blend in, and I find it's that that actually fires up my creative soul. I love to be inspired by colour choices. I guess it's that subconscious searching for colour combinations for creating things.
Anyway, I'm blathering, but suffice to say, taking pictures this week of flowers and little corners of my home, it has inspired colour choices for future makes and i've found that HUGELY joyful. I know, a tad sad; but seeing colour combinations, especially natures combinations has really fired me up for Autumn makes.
Whilst I'm happily going about doing my mini hexies in pastel shades, I'm fancying my next project to be a little more vibrant.
Oh, this has fired my soul. Teal....claret....raspberry......deep green.....vibrant green.....deep gold......mid pink. My cogs have began whirring about. I'm thinking something deep but highly colourful. I love to take a pic and see what colours come out of it.
Pale grey/blue.....vibrant green....deep green and shades of pink. Mmmmmmm always a winner with me. But I'll save it for another pastel creative day.
Deepest blues, greens, mixed with yellows and pinks......yes.....I'm loving that.
Aqua, yellow, raspberry and natural. I think that would be a great base for a ripple.....
Off white, turquoise, crimson, pink, green and a touch of brown. I'm thinking mitts.
I love how nature and the everyday can send you down a whole new creative path colour wise.
I love getting that buzz from a moment captured with my eyes. Nature is simply wonderful.
Happy Weekend

So pretty... such beautiful photographs. I would love my everyday to look as pretty as this!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mrs Robinson! x
DeleteYou are sooo right lovely Vanessa!, I always do that myself~ the colour and mood of a picture is what draws me in and to be honest thats why i love your posts because of the lovely bright pastels and the mood you set it cheers my day, it really does...I am a bit of a pinterest addict too...at the beginning i liked Instagram, but now ive gone off it and hardly ever go on it...still being faithful to my old blog and actually i prefer a story with a picture... Sometimes i loose my way a bit, have second thoughts about having images and words out there in the land of unknowns and i am more private than i once was a few years back. Myabe it was my daughter growing up and respecting her rights too... after a few negative comments i withdrew myself a lot from my blog. But im slowly finding my way again. Sometimes the weeks pass me by in a flash after work, school and just trying to fit in everything, but i always make time for photography and love that buzz i get from nature and being outside with my camera. Pinterest has saved me a lot of money on magazines!!!!!...i hardly buy any anymore!... i just look on pinterest and gaze happily at other peoples amazing homes, interior, photography~ its wonderful!!!!...but im so glad my fav blogs are still blogging, years have passed and we are still here!...and I still L O V E your posts xxxxx
ReplyDeleteWell, I ALWAYS love ANYTHING you post on your blog! I adore your nature pictures, I love how you capture the coast and I love your vignettes of accessories and flowers you put together in your home. You are truly inspiring Kazzy, so always keep up with your blog. There are always going to be people who revel in the negative but don't let it spoil what you want to put on your blog. I always remember with mine, it's a blog for me first and foremost, and I'll put on it what I want. If people don't like it, then they don't have to read it. If their comment is critical but constructive, then I warrant it with some merit, but if it's personal criticism, then I just shrug it off. They don't know me, and basing negative comments on inaccurate info is just stupid and laughable. Remember that and keep blogging lovely xxxx
Deleteawwww thanks lovely!!!!...you're right, blogging is about being faithful to what you love...and i always admire you for staying true to yourself...have a lovely weekend beautiful xx
Deleteone of my favourite sights on pinterest... colour combinations! i'm actually more a line person, but if the colour combo is off, it will ruin everything for me. and sometimes an ordinary image is made gorgeous because of the colours.
ReplyDeletemy favourite combo is that last one. beautiful and soothing to me.
Yes, I think that too....sometimes the most ordinary of images can be the most inspiring!

I think nature can put together the best colours......so much inspiration to be had from just a single flower really! x
DeleteA lovely inspirational post Vanessa. You're so right, nature is wonderful and the best place to go for colour inspiration. Pinks and greens have always been a firm favourite with me but I really like the idea of teaming them with teals in your first option, lovely. Have a great weekend.

That's how I look at photos, too! And, oh, that deep blue with the pink flower feels perfect right now!

Colors makes my heart sing. Your colors are lovely. Especially the second presentation captured my attention. Stripes... Wide stripes. Big, long cuddly cozy... Simple stitch. Moss stitch maybe. Would be gorgeous.

Oh Vanessa, you spoil us with your pictures..... I love the second colour combination. I think the mustard hue adds a little "je ne sais quoi" to the combination..... The colours of those flowers are stunning. I've had a blue preserve vase that I bought from America ages ago and I love filling it with pink flowers particularly hydrangeas and peonies like in your photos......have a lovely weekend and thanks for the inspiration! Pati x (another Pinterest addict....)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning Vanessa, Colour makes all the difference to almost anything :) x x x
ReplyDeleteI agree that colour is so inspiring. I do think you have a gift though in putting colours together and in recognising an effective combination. Others (including myself) wish to emulate it but you are the creative inspiration. I love that your mind works in this way as it opens up different opportunities to me. Thanks for sharing, J9 x
ReplyDeleteThank you for the new and refreshing color inspiration...just beautiful. Your flowers are simply stunning! I am always so in awe of your mantle displays. :)
ReplyDeleteCreating happiness all around... your house brimming with positivity. Kudos Vanessa
ReplyDeleteWhat an inspiring post! I love the colours, the photographs, makes me want to rush off and start making beautiful blankets!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day dear Vanessa!
Love, Julia xxx
I'm also drawn first and foremost to color. And pattern. I close my eyes at night and often see them both. When I go shopping I see color first and almost always can look in my basket and see a coordinated color story. I just know what I like!
