Not Quite Done With Pastels.....

My current blanket WIP is one shade...

...Brown.

I wanted to edge it in a shade of pink, but wasn't really sure what shade of pink to use.

I also wasn't sure in which room this blanket was headed when it was finished.

I'm on the home stretch now, and a recent purchase has secured its place within the house.

I have been on the search for the perfect pink linen bedding. I love pink.......but....I am VERY particular about what shades of pink I like. Pale is good, and with touches of brown or orange. Dirty pinks and peachy pinks I am drawn too, but blue or purple tones in pinks really are a 'no no' for me.

I wanted a dirty pink, a grey-ish pink. I didn't want overtly girly, but I wanted soft and calm.

I found the perfect bedding after a bit of a search, but annoyingly it was all sold out. As soon as I saw it was back in again, it popped in the virtual basket.

Ahhhhhh, I love brown and pink together. The brown shade I am using is just called 'Chocolate' but I refer to it as 'Mouse' as it has more of a grey tone to it than a red tone.

I had been itching to use this pink shade too, and found it matched quite well with the bed linen.....and I might even add the golden ochre shade. I'm not sure yet, but I think it may well work.

So, although 'Brights' are well and truly on their way for me, the pastels are not quite done....

....and I just couldn't resist these. Utterly me, It would have been criminal not to have shoved those in the basket too.

Aren't they just the prettiest coasters you have ever seen?

I actually cannot bring myself to open them yet. Pastel heaven for sure.

I have already started digging out all my colourful yarns, and it's been such a fun process. I cannot wait to get started on something bright and cheerful...until then, I shall continue to finish off My current WIP. I'm in love with that too!

Cheerio for now

    1. To me it's such a lovely shade of pink. It's a sort of shade that can go well with so many colours. It's not too girly, yet it is soothing and calm. I like it teamed with pale and mid grey/blues too as well as brown. Adding white in the mix keeps it fresh and alive, ivory makes it warm and comforting. There are many possibilities. You can see I am smitten! ha ha!

  5. I am very fond of pink too, it's one of my three favourite colours the other two being all kinds of purples, lilacs and mauve and then green. I love them all in combinations too. I would imagine I love the pinks you don't like, as well as those you do . Brown and pink is such a lovely combination and the many variations of brown is the colour of all those little animals I love.

My tabby cat is full of brown and grey and beige and how pretty she is. (And a little pink nose too.) Brown and turquoise is also lovely. Looking forward very much to seeing your brown blanket. I bet everyone who thinks they don't like brown will have a re-think! I've been of a mind to make a one colour blanket recently, and was thinking dove grey or palest lilac. The difference being of course that you get things done, while I just think about them!

    1. It's funny isn't it how we all have these particular shades that we like a lot and vice versa. For me, it's all about balance too, making sure that you don't over-do it with one shade over another. I feel like colour needs it's space to breathe and shine. Sounds weird I know!

  6. Your new coasters are beautiful! I am sure that your new blanket will be just as gorgeous too! I know what you mean about pinks, I don't like them when they have a blue undertone, not my shade! xx

    I love the coasters!!!

  8. Those three colours together are a delight, as is the dreamy looking bed linen. I found some beautifully soft linen-look bedlinen in John a Lewis, though the colours on offer are certainly much brighter!

  10. I love pink too!! I try to change colours sometimes, but I always come back to pink.
I am thinking about something pink for my guest room and reading you about pink gives me the taste to do something quickly!
I love the way you write about colours.
The grey-ish pink in french is kind of old pink, I dream about an old pink coat for winter...It is so soft as colour...
Well!! I love to read you even if i don't write a comment every time.
    Have a good day.

    1. Yes, old pink! I like plaster pink too, barely there pink. I'm not really into overtly pink...however.....I do like the Cath Kidston bright pink she uses on her furniture in shops. I'd make an exception for that shade of pink but the rest of my house would have to be plain to take it!!!!!!

  12. I can't wait to see it! I too love the combination of pink and brown, pink and aqua, pink and orange (a lot in my kitchen of those two). I can see why those coasters HAD to go in your basket, beautiful! Happy crafting!

    1. I LOVE pink and aqua too! I'm funny about orange, but weirdly I can only take it as a colour if it is teamed with pink!

  13. I know exactly what you mean about the perfect shade of dusky, dirty pink - the kind of pink I associate with linen for some reason. And it works so beautifully with brown, grey, white and ochre yellow. That colour combination you've selected will be a winner. I love pink. I forget that sometimes.. x

    1. I think when you say you like pink to someone, then they seem to think that it's a bubblegum kind of pink. I use a lot of pink in my house, but I always team it with another colour, mainly shades of grey blue. I don't think it's overtly girly, but I see as more calming. I absolutely adore bright and strong colours, but I realise I can only take them in bursts. I couldn't live with full on colour all over my house. It would give me brain clutter and a constant headache!
