Ta-dah-ish

So...it gets to Thursday before any amount of sunshine appears to say hello my way!

Oh, and how I am grateful for it!

Today I feel bright and springy. I have on one of my flower brooches which is making me smile...all proud and in your face!

My mess is sort of nearing an end.

This was making me happy

As much as I HATEsewing in ends....I LOVE the little piles you create. Very satisfying!!!!!!

So.....what was making me laugh? Well...as you know I was doing a few of those rather lovely Japanese flowers we have all taken a shine to,  ever since the lovely Lucy over at attic24 delighted us with a scrummy post.

Now, I thought about a scarf, but decided that I wanted a shawl. So I began. Now, I have a shawl already. One that I simply love to bits. It serves me well. I have a soft spot for shawls.

This is my shawl...

I got it from H&M about 18 months ago. The weirdest place to find it I thought...but it grabbed me immediately and the love affair started. Big knit, soft....perfect for wrapping around me and sitting in the garden at first light of a summers morning and last light of a summers evening.

So, another shawl was in the making. The greeny one was a triangular shape so I thought carry on on the same theme. Just, little old me, didn't really register how big the flowers were, therefore calculating just how big the finished triangle would be! Merrily sitting each night adding a few more flowers. Lets just say it was not shawl size. It was blanket size!

What do you think? Not really shawl size is it!!!!!!!! But......I am TOTALLY AND UTTERLY in LOVE LOVE LOVE with it!

So...ta-dah-ish....because I need to even up the sides now to make it a bed throw. But what a super duper bed throw i'm thinking it will be! All bright and jolly and I don't think I will be able to take my eyes off it for quite a while! Gosh, this has got me thinking all spring and summer and it has lifted me out of the grey/blue days no end!

Definitely being spoon fed from the happiness jar today!!!!!!

Happy days to you all and sending bright sun bursts your way!

Much love

Vanessa

  28. Lovely Vanessa ~ a perfect end to a rather perfect spring like day was seeing your shawl/bed throw which is completely just the most beautiful thing!! I was sitting on the sofa gasping out loud when I saw it - (wanties alert) - and then I thought, oh goodness me, why didn't I attempt something bigger and faster for my own shawl (my sea pennies one is a slllooooooowwww process to be sure!) then I could be wearing it already! But hey ho, it's nice to have an on the go project as Im about to start another one - a waistcoat haha!!
Thank you for the burst of flowery colour, sending love, Julia x x x

  30. wow, wow,WOW! Vanessa, you have surpassed yourself with this one! Who cares if its not shawl sized, you created it and wherever it may lie you'll feel a little swell of joy everytime you catch a glimpe of it..like when a room has been recently been tidied or redecorated and you keep sneaking past that open doorway for a peek.
The colours compliment each other wonderfully, and it looks as intricate as a spiders web...stunning...
    Love Kirsty...

P.S do, make the coffee cake, its beautiful, hope i didnt make the recipe seem complicated, its totally not! xoxo

  50. Put your little bits of yarn outside for the birds to use in their nests. Let them have some colour, too. I put them in a net bag I get onions in and hang them on a tree. I also include dryer lint with my yarn bits.

  51. I love the colourful Japanese flower stole. I have sent away for the pattern book in Japanese. I hope I can understand the diagrams because I won't be able to read the Japanese!
Would you agree to send me the English version of the written pattern to help me decipher the lovely flower?
I would be very grateful if you would do this!

I love your blog and your colour choice!

  52. In the meantime, I've received my Japanese flower book and am able to understand the pattern diagram very easily. I see though, how many people could go wrong in the last two rows!

Your flowers are done in the way that I read the pattern!

  53. Thank you for sharing your delicious recipes. I'm going to try out two of the cupcake recipes that sound so good.

Would you be kind enough to let me know your crochet pattern sources like the granny square tutorial and the roses. Do you find your patterns on blogs? Some clever people make up their own! Maybe you are one of them.

I love your colourful blog. Well done!
