Today......

....I am keeping myself occupied!

I am helping the bears to feed the mess pit this week. Yarn everywhere...the pic above shows the tidy stuff!

I am laughing.....at my latest hooky creation. The more I look at it, the more I laugh. The light is very poor at the moment, so photos as soon as a bit of sun pokes it's weary head through the grey drizzly clouds.

How's your day/week going?

  1. Hi Vanessa, your yarn looks scrummy in your pretty basket.
Not sure what we have done to deserve such a miserable half term week, still, don't need sunshine to crochet :0)

  2. Your wool looks lovely - is it stylecraft the colours look familiar... I have spent the morning trying to stem the tide of mess. Think I might put in an hour of crochet this afternoon instead. Looks like more fun.

  4. Fighting with the mess just seems futile sometimes, doesn't it? I say relax and laugh. Very intrigued by what you are working on.

  6. My day is going fairly well, in the crochet department anyway.... I have just finished my second (ever!)granny square.........

I am using Robin DK which has some colours very like yours.. off to Winchester tomorrow to get some pinks and creams!

Can I ask a question? Do you do three rounds for a granny square? It looks like a nice size to me but having never made a blanket before not to sure......

ps I do love your colourful blog specially on a miserable day like today :)

  7. Thank you so much for your comment.....

I think I will add more rounds then and thanks too for the tip about the last one being the same colour - being a newbie to crochet I hadn't even thought about that.... in fact sewing up my blanket and doing a border seems a long, long way away!

Yes, C & H fabrics in Winchester..... I did ask them if they did classes but no luck - so I am teaching myself.

Thank you for the inspiration on your blog :)

  12. You're cheating! Let's see the messy bits I want to make sure my children are just the same as everyone elses and not total slobs. x

  13. Am loving the yarn in a wicker basket - might have to get myself one.

BTW I managed to do a cushion like your circular one, turned out OK but I didn't get the lovely defined wedges you do - it's a mystery to me!!

I'm waiting on some Stylecraft DK in lovely ice-cream colours to add to my japanese flower shawl and I also want to crochet some Easter eggs to hang on a vase of twigs.

Such inspiration from you and the other lovely ladies of blogland!!

  17. I'm having a lovely week. I've been knitting some squares for the patchwork, wolly blanket I'm making. I've made some jewellery, and tomorrow I'm haivng my first crochet lesson to learn how to crochet granny squares so I can get cracking on a blanket and cushion covers. I have a horrible feeling I'm going to be totally addicted. Can't wait to see what's been making you laugh. I'm hosting a giveaway over at Mimi and Tilly so pop over and enter if you fancy it (silver and seed pearl earrings). Hugs, Em x
