Yes, I put my hands up to getting little obsessions. Obsessions that I need to get out of my system.
The latest one......
✿❀❁ Succulents ❁❀✿
Some were introduced into our garden last year. I have to say, before that I didn't give them any thought. Each day as I walked by the succulent in the pot by my front door, I noticed just how pretty it actually was. It was its symmetry that really caught my eye. I began to notice it more and more and became quite taken with it.
I also noticed some beautiful succulent pictures on Pinterest, and began pinning in earnest. Have a look here at my flower and plant board to see what I got so excited by.
Whilst on one of my many diy store kitchen trips, I came across some pretty little succulent numbers for pennies. So home they came with me, and in little pots they sat.
I have yet to decide if they will stay on their own or be put together in a succulent hanging pot. I am loving their colours, strong green, through to grey/silver through to blush pink. Just so pretty and calming.
I am hoping I will have some success. They can't be too hard to maintain right?
Well......for now....I am loving my pretty little succulents in all their glory, and when my kitchen is FINALLY finished, they can take pride of place in there.
Have a super week all

I used to dismiss succulents out of hand, remembering the ugly cactus plants at school :) but recently I've noticed how very beautiful these plants are. I can see why you've got a new obsession! The shapes are so pleasing, they would be so lovely to draw. I'm inspired too!

I think the 70's and the 80's are to blame for me hating succulents, they always at my nan' s anyway seem to reside with cactus, which I hate intensely. That and spider plants. But over the past year I have started to love a little in house greenery. I have a little boston fern in my living room. And a dragon tree in my dinning room. I would like more plants and though not succulents at this point yours do look pretty so maybe their is hope yet for some succulent loving!

Oh I collected these as a child, had a row on my bedroom windowsill, I love the patterns in them :) x
ReplyDeleteThey look beautiful in their little pots and I am sure they will be lovely wherever you decide to display them! xx
ReplyDeleteI love them, too! Jade plants, especially, have a place in my heart. The plants you chose are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love the pink one. Nice finishing touches! Heather x
ReplyDeleteI love succulents whenever I see those little ones I get happy, but I haven't got any myself yet.. Loved looking at your lovely pictures! Have a lovely week!
ReplyDeleteThose ARE all very cute little plants. I see how you could become a wee bit obsessed. They'd look great all in a row under a kitchen window. ♥
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I wish they grew better here...way too cold!
ReplyDeleteadoro le piante grasse e ne ho a casa proprio alcune come le tue!
ReplyDeleteUn caro saluto
sweet shapes...i think they will look beautiful a long a window sill in your kitchen xx
ReplyDeleteThey're lovely. I must admit, one or two have snuck their way in here as well. I really like the pinky one with the tiny leaves - so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love them, too! but I'm awfull with them :-( For that reason I made some with...crochet :-D
ReplyDeleteSo sweet I love little cactuses... I have several too and I have a round cactus garden pot.. Happy Tuesday with love Janice
ReplyDeleteOh wow - I've never given them a second look. I had some house leeks years ago - I think they're similar, but they didn't do very well. I think the ones in your photos and boards are brilliant - I feel a new collection coming on! At the moment I'm enjoying the huge pot of scarlet tulips that I planted last Autumn - they've done really well throughout all the winter rain and they're amazing - full open in the sunshine and tightly closed up as it gets dark! I'm definitely adding tulips to my list of things to plant again. Those succulents are pastel and calm though - beautiful colours.
ReplyDeleteOoooh I can see why those sweet little flower-shaped juicy succulents would be an obsession, the shades of green are quite lovely...the shapes are all so pretty...and they were featured on Gardener's World last week, in case you missed it - if they can survive on a rock face with nothing but moss, I'm sure you'll do fine with them in your pretty kitchen! ReplyDeleteVanessa you wouldn't believe the succulents to be found in South Africa - you will positively go nuts over the selection, some very rare plants are to be found here. SA is home to the greatest non-tropical concentration of higher plant species in the world! Your collection is beautiful and I just love the endless possibilities of how these plants can be displayed!
ReplyDeleteYour succulents are beautiful and I love growing them in my garden or in pots. They add something that no other plant does. Enjoy.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteThey're easy to maintain 1tbs water every 2 weeks. But I've forgotten to water mine for months and they're great. It's worse if you over water them.
