Stuff.......

Oh, I liked this Bank Holiday.

Decent bank holiday weather for a change.

A weekend spent lazing, but, also being equally productive. Oh, I love weekends like that. I don't get the guilt for lounging, and I get to feel like I have accomplished a fair amount too.

Long breakfasts. I do love them......

......and getting the crust! The best bit EVER! Small things and all that.

Being taken with tea....and actually being quite happy that the box matches my mini chair. Yes, I am THAT sad I'm afraid.

Finding my urchin tealights. Bought many years ago when I thought my sorry little bathroom was about to get a makeover. Sadly, Makeover funds became baby funds when I realised Baby Bear was on his way; my little urchins were put away.....then I forgot about them. Found this weekend, I realised just why I had bought them. Fine, unglazed ceramic and totally fab. Sort of alien like. I have a soft spot for sea urchins. They remind me of Cornish fishing villages. There were always baskets of empty urchins by the sea walls that you could buy for 50p or so. They have fascinated me all weekend. Their glow is awesome.

Pretty by day

AND by night.

There was a productive house tidy. You know, the one where you just go for it big time and absolutely EVERYTHING gets sorted and organised. It leaves you with not only a clean and tidy space (something my sad little house hasn't seen for a while), but a de-cluttered brain........and boy that feels SO good.

Flowers. Loving colour. Inside the house and outside too. The Bears' were taken to visit their Aunty's grave too. We try to go often. There is something so peaceful about a Cemetery. Sad too......but more so, peaceful. We bought pretty flowers and arranged them whilst the Baby Bear and Middle Bear battled with the watering cans. Their Aunty is laid next to her mum , who sadly passed away of Cancer also, just a couple of years beforehand. It's sort of comforting to see them together. We lay flowers for her mum too. We feel sad for all the graves that have no love or attention. Some are very old. I imagine no relatives living close by.........or even living, so the Bears' pick buttercups that adorn the Cemetery and place one in the flower pots on the neglected graves. We all feel a little happier that they had some attention too.

Home again, and projects are whirring in my head.

Ideas.....colours.......textures......decisions.....

I make my colour choice.

Very happy with that......and so the crafting begins......

Roll on with the week. Full on and a little challenging.....but the long weekend has been rejuvenating. I couldn't ask for anything more.

  8. I don't know what it is exactly, but I just love reading your posts. Actually, I do know what it most likely is, it's you! LOVE your mantle. So fresh and clean and pretty-looking. I tend to go for dark decoration in my home -- browns, deep reds and oranges, autumn-like colors -- the paint, the furnishings, the pictures, and all the trimmings. I wonder what it would feel like to live in a mostly bright white home. Anyway, just wanted you to know how much I enjoy coming here. ♥

    1. Hi Ingrid,

These tea lights were purchased many years ago, and I have no idea where I got them from. I looked online to see if they were still available anywhere, and I found something almost identical here: http://www.thebeachhut.com/search/?q=tea+light

Just a different type of urchin but exactly the same in every other way. Hope this is of some help! x

    1. The orange shade is Supersoft aran shade 897 bu Sirdar. It is now discontinued I think. I've had a few balls for a while, you may find some on ebay.

Hope this helps a little x

The yarn is looking interesting, what are you conjuring now, I wonder? Chrissie x PS I totally relate to your tea box and the little chair, that is a wonderful still life, and the shades do match perfectly!

  20. That sounds like a wonderful weekend, it is always so satisfying to be productive. The sea urchins are beautiful, and how lovely to rediscover them. There's always a fight for the crusts in this house, you are lucky to get hold of one! I'm intrigued by the yarn, I shall look forward to seeing what it turns into.

  23. Beautiful weekend, sad about the forgotten graves though. We have a public holiday here just for people to be able to travel to their families graves to care for them and light candles, the day before All Souls.....it's a beautiful tradition and perfect way to remember those that have passed.

  24. The sea urchin lights are gorgeous, but so is your trio of bud vases - whereabouts are they from? They would look perfect in my bedroom!

  30. Hi Emma,

Sorry, I can't give you specific names for nearly all of them as I'm not really sure where I got them from! They were all in my stash, all without labels and they had all been started. I do know that the orange one was Sirdar aran and that particular shade of orange has now been discontinued. The sea green one I know is life dk by stylecraft in mint (I managed to find another ball with a label on!). The pale pink and mid pink could well be stylecraft but I couldn't be sure. The ivory one is dk and could be any brand really. Sorry I cannot be more specific, I'm quite pants at keeping record of my yarn! x
