Four things.......

Thing One......Project Busting

Thing Two......Inspiring Book

and

Thing Three......Frothy Coffee

and

Thing Four......Raspberries

After the productiveness that was yesterday, I decided that today, was a day for declaring 'fun' day. My favourite kind of coffee, raspberries to pick at, a book to inspire me for colour combinations and finishing a wip. I feel excited. I love almost finishing a project. It's something that I hadn't even put on my list but it's been quick to whip up and i'm really liking it.

Yesterday evening, Middle bear asks me could I help him make a dream catcher for his History class (which as per usual had to be in the next day......why do boys do that?). Having had enthusiasm lately for dream catchery thingys, I enthusiastically said yes. Amazingly I had everything to hand to help him get started. Oh my word, Never again! It did NOT go well. I looked up how to make a proper one, but did he know best? Oh yeah. A couple of hours were spent in a tangled mess. I got annoyed and refused to help as he was sure he knew best and the simple online tutorial was wrong. I was so tempted to bung him one of my crocheted ones and tell him to tell his teacher he'd recently taken up a new craft! What a terrible mother.......but could I have gotten away with it?!!!!!!!

  1. Sounds like you have a lovely day planned. That book looks really pretty. I had a chuckle about the story of your boy and the dream catcher! Rest assured that girls are just as bad for not telling you they need something for school until the evening before...my girl has done this countless times!

    1. It's always the way isn't it. It doesn't matter how many times I tell them not to leave things until the last minute...they do! Arrrrggghhhhhh!!!!!

  2. Not a terrible mother at all - or if you are then there are lots of us around to keep you company! ;-) Girls are the same, especially when they're the age of our children, they know best, and we have to grit our teeth and accept it sometimes - I think a little failure might do them good (now that sounds terrible, doesn't it?). I find it a tricky transition - where once I was a superhero who could whip up a pirate-themed lunch overnight (yes, I've been sprung with those last-minute projects, too!), suddenly I'm ignorant, she knows so much more, etc. I think that lovely picture of raspberries, coffee and good book is the *perfect* little reward for wonderful, patient parenting. 3. Oh you need the patience of a saint when children get old enough to 'know' everything! ;) I love your Four Things, they sound lovely. :)

  5. Mums can't win - if we know the answer - they don't want to be shown / told, and if we don't know the answer, the world has gone wrong! Good luck! I'm still getting a similar thing with GCSE practice papers. He was stuck on a Maths question - and I worked it out. Perhaps my dancing round the kitchen was a little OTT - but I GOT IT RIGHT. Clearly I was wrong though! :) x

  7. The joys of parenthood eh? I have three grandchildren unbelievably (to me) :) two boys and one girl , who is 9 going on 17. I think she may be a handful! The youngest boy, 6, gets very frustrated when things he tries to make don't turn out as he would like them to. He is very particular!

  9. Four lovely things - enjoy. I feel your pain re the crafting with your son. I've lost count of the times I've lost the plot with mine over how to do something. We have three dreamcatchers in the hall that we made between us. I keep them as a reminder of that memorable afternoon...

  13. Yes you are right Kazzy it seems to get more the younger they get! I'm quite sick of footie already! I don't mind Rugby. I saw a great pic somewhere the other day. A pic of Ronaldo faking a foul with the caption 'Football: players pretending to be hurt to stop the game'. Then a pic of a rugby player with his head bandaged and blood streaming down his face with the caption 'Rugby: players pretending they're NOT hurt to carry on'. Sums it up really. Just a stupid game with over paid, egotistical players who fake getting fouled ALL THE TIME! I just don't get the obsession people have with it. American football too......what's with all the padding? Do they bruise like peaches? It's like rugby played by fairies! ha ha!
