Taking It Easy......

I was glad of this weekend.

Truth be told i'm a little weary.

I'm a homebody.

I like being at home.

I like pottering about.

They are my favourite kind of days.

The wind has been howling. I do love the sound of the wind though if i'm honest. Something so raw about it. It woke me at 4 on sunday morning......so I lay, in the dark and the quiet......and just listened.

I also occupied myself with little crochet projects that were easily satisfying, and I got out the big ripple blanket I started on at the end of last year.

I love the repetitive rhythm of a ripple blanket.

Really rather soothing.

Lots of lattes (the healthy kind if there is such a thing), and vitamin boosting foods to boost my energy again. A brief respite in the rain meant a gusty walk in some local fields to make my skin tingle and fill my lungs, and a little bit of Six Nations to top it all off.

A very pleasant weekend.

So.......

....the house is a tip....

I've given up trying to make it look decent.

I hope people give me at least 5 minutes notice before they turn up.

I realise with 3 boys being at home all day, I am not going to win the battle, and may as well just bide my time until the start of the school term and normality can resume.

They have been good actually. Three boys in one space for too long is usually a disaster. I am not tearing my hair out......

....but the mess...........oh the mess.......

I'll just have a cuppa and forget about it all........

Obsession......

.......You know.....blogging is a funny thing.

I sometimes wonder how you would describe my blog. It's mainly craft, with a bit of this and that thrown in.

I don't really like my picture being taken. I much prefer to be behind the lense. As a result, there aren't too many pics of me on this old blog. But, it doesn't stop you being curious! I get emailed a lot and asked questions like 'what's your dress style?', and 'what make up do you wear and recommend?'.

I guess it surprises me a little, as I don't really show myself. I mean, if I paraded my noggin on here, I guess I might understand it a little more.

So, Ilanna, to answer your question..... I don't think I really have a set style. It chops and changes depending on each day. I like what I like, regardless of what's 'in fashion'. I guess I have just reached that age. Sorry if that disappoints! If you follow me on instagram, you will know that I can sometimes do 'bag lady' very well! There is sometimes a little bit of what I wear on there, but not a great deal.

Currently, I think i'm obsessed with the bat-wing top. Something big in the 80's, not really sure that it ever came 'back in', but I realised not so long ago, that I seemed to have a fair bit of it in my wardrobe.

So here we go, a set of pics taken over a couple of weeks as and when I wore them. Wow, it's hard to take a pic of oneself. I don't enjoy it. I tried hard to chop as much out as I could! So, I present the batwing obsession......

Maybe I just like floaty.

The above one is currently my favourite one. I love the lace edging.

This one was my first, and it started my sleeve obsession a few years ago.

So there we are. A little bit of what I like. None of these tops are current i'm afraid, so I cannot pop you in the direction of any stores.

I have collected a few tablecloths over the past months with the view to turning them into some more 'batty' style tops, however, my crafty 'to do' list is just so long, it may well be a while before that idea comes to fruition! Never mind, one day.

I hope I have satisfied your curiosity a little Ilanna. As for make up....well.....I don't think my face is a good advertisment, so I might leave that one for others! Sorry about that!

Slow down?

I fear I may have taken this whole chill out approach to Christmas a bit too far!

I am now realising just how close it is, and there are still a few makes to go. But a few more bits have been done....

Christmas chutney....made...labels done...ribbon attatched.

Chilli Jam....made...labels to be done.

All thanks to Nigella! I'm sure they will be enjoyed!

A sprinkling of snow dusted our way again. I cannot imagine what it must be like up North at the moment. Even the Bears are annoyed it is here again. They think it might hinder us seeing family this Christmas. We shall see.

It is cold. I have been wearing my granny squares scarf a lot. It is my Dr Who scarf.

I made it long.........v-e-r-y long! I like to be able to wrap it round twice if it is really cold. It is snug and warm, and has become a very good friend to me.

I did make another one....stripy of course...and this has become quite a companion also.

Some wrist warmers and a hat to be made over christmas I think!

As usual, whilst Christmas shopping, I found Christmas presents for me instead of others! These did sneak in the basket. When I wake and walk around the house in the morning, it will be the pink striped scarf around my neck and these oh so pretty snuggle angora striped socks on my feet to keep the chill off! Mr H has it very easy!

Another find this week was a little bit of thrifted china, right up my street and a bargain. I just have to mix it in with the rest!

So, more to be done today, no slowing down yet. Are you organised yet?

Happy Friday and weekend to you all!
